The Minnesota stamp features a watercolor illustration of a Common Loon paired with a Pink and White Lady’s Slipper, Minnesota’s official state bird and flower. The issue was released on April 14, 1982, in Washington, DC, and in state capitals. Printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing using photogravure, the set showcased original watercolor artwork by father-and-son wildlife artists Arthur and Alan Singer, with Arthur creating the birds and Alan creating the flowers.
