STAMP DESCRIPTION & HISTORY: The 2012 Santa and Sleigh se-tenant set brings together all four coordinated designs from the USPS holiday issue in their intended visual sequence. Illustrated by Paul Rogers and designed by Howard E. Paine, the stamps combine to create a continuous Christmas Eve panorama of Santa Claus and his reindeer circling above snow-covered rooftops. Individual designs in the set depict reindeer in flight near the moon, Santa traveling in his sleigh, reindeer passing over rooftops, and the snowy neighborhood below. Issued on October 13, 2012, in New York City, the Forever stamps were printed by Ashton Potter (USA) Ltd. using offset printing with microprinted “USPS” and released in pressure-sensitive double-sided booklets of 20.
