STAMP DESCRIPTION & HISTORY: The 2006 Lady and the Tramp stamp was issued as part of The Art of Disney: Romance, the third USPS pane in the Art of Disney series. The design features Lady and Tramp sharing the famous spaghetti dinner from Disney’s 1955 animated film Lady and the Tramp, one of the movie’s most recognizable romantic moments. Lady, an elegant cocker spaniel, and Tramp, a carefree mixed-breed street dog, come from very different worlds but form an affectionate bond at the heart of the story. The stamp was designed by David Pacheco, illustrated by Peter Emmerich, and art directed by Terrence McCaffrey. Issued on April 21, 2006, in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, the design combines classic animation, humor, romance, and canine charm in a USPS commemorative particularly well suited to weddings, anniversaries, Disney fans, and dog lovers.
STAMP MEANING & SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE: Lady and Tramp carry themes of love, companionship, loyalty, acceptance, adventure, devotion, and finding connection across different backgrounds. Their famous shared meal has become an enduring image of unexpected romance and simple moments becoming meaningful memories. For wedding invitations, save-the-dates, engagement announcements, anniversaries, and thank you notes, this stamp offers a playful symbol of partnership, affection, and two lives coming together.
STAMP SERIES HISTORY: The USPS introduced The Art of Disney series in 2004 with a pane centered on friendship, followed by a celebration-themed issue in 2005. The 2006 Art of Disney: Romance pane focused on love as portrayed through four famous Disney couples: Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Beauty and the Beast, and Lady and Tramp. Issued in self-adhesive panes of 20 with five examples of each design, the stamps were created by a USPS and Disney design team and printed by Ashton Potter (USA) Ltd. The Romance issue remains especially appealing for wedding postage because its four designs combine familiar characters with themes of affection, courtship, partnership, and happily-ever-after storytelling.
GENUINE USPS POSTAGE: These unused vintage postage stamps are perfectly valid for use as current postage for mailing with USPS as long as you use the adequate amount of additional postage to achieve standard postage rates according to the weight of your mailing. Check current postage rates at USPS.com.
