Love Series Hearts and Flowers Stamps (Dutch folk art, Heart-shaped, San Francisco, Tony Bennett) Vintage Unused USPS Postage 22c
Love Series Hearts and Flowers Stamps (Dutch folk art, Heart-shaped, San Francisco, Tony Bennett) Vintage Unused USPS Postage 22c
These unique stamps are heart-shaped and depict colorful flowers, making them perfect for use on wedding invitations, Valentine's Day cards, or other love-themed letters. Each stamp has a face value of 22 cents and is valid for current use as postage.
These stamps were originally issued on January 30, 1987 and are part of the sixth love series from the USPS. They were designed by John Alcorn, who drew inspiration from Pennsylvania Dutch folk art. The first day ceremony for these stamps was held at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, California, where Tony Bennett sang his hit "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" as part of the celebration.
The USPS started the Love series in 1973, based on the popularity of Christmas stamps. While they were not intended to be solely for Valentine's Day mail, they can be used for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. The USPS officially declared the Love series in 1987 and has been issuing new stamps almost every year since then. These stamps are printed in greater quantities and are typically on sale for a longer period of time. If demand is high, additional printings may occur.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to add these beautiful, vintage stamps to your collection or use them for your special occasion mailings. These stamps are not only a piece of history, but also a unique and sentimental touch to any letter or invitation. Don't wait, grab your set of unused Love series stamps today and spread some love with each letter you send.
