This vintage unused Love with Hearts stamp features a colorful design that was part of the USPS Love Series released in 1984. The word "Love" is repeated five times, with the "V" being replaced by colorful hearts. These mint condition stamps hold a face value of 22 cents and can still be used for postage.
Designed by graphic artist Bradbury Thompson, the hearts on the stamp were printed using gravure while the type was printed using intaglio. It was first issued on January 31, 1984, at the Children's Museum in Washington, DC, in collaboration with the Greeting Card Association. This stamp was originally unveiled on November 1, 1983, to celebrate National Card and Letter-Writing Week.
While the Love stamp was initially intended for Valentine's Day mail, it is also suitable for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. In 1987, the USPS officially declared it a series, and new Love stamps have been released almost every year since. These special stamps are sold for a longer period and in larger quantities due to their popularity.
