Issued by the USPS on October 22, 1988, these stamps were designed by first-time stamp designer Harry Zelenko in a simple yet charming greeting card style. Each stamp features an image on a solid-colored background, with this particular stamp showing a bird peeking out of a green mailbox. These unused, mint stamps are valid for current use and have a face value of 25 cents.
The First Day ceremony for these stamps took place during the SEPAD '88 exhibition at the Valley Forge Convention and Exhibit Center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The 1987 Special Occasions booklet had received numerous requests for stamps for different special days throughout the year. As a result, this new booklet was created with the four most requested messages - "Happy Birthday," "Best Wishes," "Thinking of You," and "Love You."
